2018 CAIRNS YOUNG WOMAN OF THE YEAR TO FEATURE IN MAGNETIC ISLAND INSTALLATION OF THE MUSEUM OF UNDERWATER ART

One of the eight sculptures to be installed as a part of the Museum of Underwater Art’s (MOUA) installation on Magnetic Island has been revealed to be modelled off 2018 Cairns Young Woman of the Year, Molly Steer.

Steer, at just 11 years old, founded the Straw No More Project; an initiative which looks to educate the community on the impacts that plastic straws have on our oceans, and encourages individuals, schools, and businesses to discontinue using plastic straws and switching to a more environmentally friendly option.
