One of the eight sculptures to be installed as a part of the Museum of Underwater Art’s (MOUA) installation on Magnetic Island has been revealed to be modelled off Townsville’s own Professor John Edward Norwood “Charlie” Veron.

Indigenous trainees with a passion for sharing their culture will now have the opportunity to put their knowledge and connection to Townsville North Queensland to practical use, with the launch of an Indigenous Guides Training Program working with the Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA).

The Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA) has recently been awarded the annual ‘Eco Creativity’ award by high end Chinese travel magazine ‘Voyages’.

A meeting was held at the Palm Island Shire Council chambers 14th December with PISC Councillors, the Deputy Mayor and MOUA Directors, Dr Adam Smith and Ms Vicki Saylor.

The Museum of Underwater Art’s (MOUA) commitment to First Nations People continues, with the MOUA Board welcoming the appointment of Traditional Owner Vicki Saylor as a Director.
