PIONEERING MARINE SCIENTIST AND EXPLORER TO BE REMEMBERED ALONG MARINE SCIENCE TRAIL

One of the eight sculptures to be installed as a part of the Museum of Underwater Art’s (MOUA) installation on Magnetic Island has been revealed as the late internationally renowned marine zoologist, Sir Maurice Yonge.

Sir Yonge, formerly Regius Professor of Zoology at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, forged research on marine invertebrate feeding and digestion which saw him go on to lead the highly successful Great Barrier Reef Expedition in the 1920’s.
